From Michelle Toia – founder of Issy Bear’ I founded Issy Bear Nappies in 2008, after the birth of my fifth daughter Isabella Grace. After using terry towelling squares on the other four girls (Rachel, Sarah, Megan and Natalie), I felt that there had to be a better system out there. So I went crazy with buying materials and doing research. Isabella along with my niece Grace and nephew Joshua were my guinea pigs. Lots of trials later, the Issy Bear Nappies Version 1 was born. I showed them to a true friend, who bought some for her own son and then we were off and racing. Imagine my girl’s horror when I managed to just fall into this business whilst their Dad was away in East Timor with the Army. My time that was scarce as it was became almost non existent! 2 years later we are constantly growing. The month of May 2010 saw us bring on 16 new Distributors, whom I just love. They are constantly adding comments on our wholesalers page that just make my day xx We made the decision in late 2009 that in order to grow, we needed to oursource our nappies. With a huge amount of help from another great friend of mine we were able to start this process with a lovely family run factory in China. The factory is quite small compared to others. Employees are happy there. They all work 8 hour days, 5 days per week. If they wish to do overtime they can. Outsourcing our nappies has allowed Issy Bears to continue employing the same 5 ladies here in Western Australia. Take care and all the very best to you all Michelle Toia Issy Bear Nappies
